Modern Slavery Act 2022

Introduction

This is A2B Assessments Ltd statement on its approach to modern slavery following the introduction of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (the “Act”) and Act of Parliament. At A2B we recognise the importance of the Act and what it aims to achieve in combatting slavery, and, as a responsible business, we understand our duty to act ethically and with integrity.

This statement sets out the steps that have been taken to ensure the detection and prevention of modern slavery across our operations and supply chains and the next steps planned for the coming financial year.

We appreciate that our turnover is below the threshold mandating a company to have a modern slavery policy and statement, however we feel it is important and hence voluntarily have created a policy and statement.

Our Business

At A2B Assessments Ltd, we provide a service to disabled students assessing their needs and producing assessment reports for Student Finance England, Student Finance Wales and Student Loans Company to decide on what level of support is required during their higher education.

We have under 20 employees and a network of 50 to 60 freelance assessors and quality assurers in the UK.

Our Employees

At A2B Assessments Ltd we have internal policies such as safeguarding and operating procedures which requires all employees and freelancers to act ethically and in accordance with our core values at all times.

Our Suppliers

The A2B Assessments Ltd supply chain is made up of individual freelancers based across the uk who undergo a DBS vetting process. No manufacturing is performed and equipment is sourced through business to business companies or large internet based suppliers. We have office space in a number of locations throughout the UK and these are mainly operated through a managed facility where possible such as Regus. Other suppliers include: IT software, recruitment, office furniture and finance professional services.

We will be doing preparatory work to identify our key suppliers such that we can make contact with them as the next steps to this statement.

Our Next Steps

We are committed to the continual development of our processes and procedures to ensure that modern slavery does not take place within our company or its supply chain. We have written a policy specifically for the Modern Slavery Act to reflect our continued commitment to the Act and our obligations in managing our supply chain.

This policy will be communicated to the company. We have agreed a business function and officer, to be responsible for progressing the actions from the Modern Slavery Act Policy and Annual Statements. This person will be responsible for coordinating contact with suppliers about the Act and any relevant actions.

In the next 6 to 12 months we will engage with our Top 5 UK suppliers to confirm our commitment to prevent modern slavery and our expectations working with them. We will raise awareness of modern slavery act and our role in combatting it within A2B Assessments Ltd, during our Company briefing sessions.

This statement is made by A2B Assessments Ltd pursuant to section 54(1) of the Act and constitutes our slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 30 April 2022.
