We have assessment centres all across London and Reading. The aim of this page is to pull together information from the local councils and make the information and resources easily accessible to students who have been assessed by us at these locations.

This can help you with things such as:

Things To Keep You Entertained

Southwark council have an array of entertainment on offer to help you pass the time at home.  If you sign up their library you can access ebooks, audiobooks and even movie streams, completely for free! – learn more 

Joining the library also gives you access to many educational resources including 30 million academic articles.

If you are young and fit and want to provide some aid to those who are more vulnerable and self-isolating then you can find further information here.

Financial Support

Southwark council have various financial support options in place for those struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic. Including;

  • Debt recovery is suspended
  • Extra financial support for those struggling with rent payments
  • University credit
  • Help with council tax payments

Mental Health

If you find yourself struggling with poor mental health you can find some useful advice here 

They also have a telephone support line if you or a friend is suffering from a mental health crisis 0800 731 2864

Samaritans are also operating as usual, and are available to call for free 24/7 if you are struggling with your mental health.

Food Access

If you are unable to access food for any of the following reasons then you will be able to receive some support:

  • You have recently lost your job and it’s effecting your ability to buy food
  • You are unable to afford food
  • You are self-isolating due to COVID-19

Covid 19 Hardship Fund

This is available to help residents who can’t afford their council tax bill due to current circumstances. You can apply for support here.

Help for vulnerable and high risk

If you are vulnerable and self-isolating, and don’t have a neighbour or family member that can help then there is also a service to help:

  • collect and deliver prescriptions
  • deliver essential food packages
  • connect you to local community services

Support for those struggling with their mental health

Bromley, Lewisham & Greenwich Mind are offering telephone appointments for anyone struggling with their mental health. You can find further information on their website.

Hackney

If you are self-isolating you can learn more about food deliveries here.

Help accessing prescriptions and medication

Prescriptions can be delivered for anyone self-isolating. You should call your local pharmacy to arrange this or if you can’t get in touch you can call 020 8356 3111.

Help with rent

If you are experiencing financial hardship you may be entitled to support with your rent or council tax.
